  • Civ III collectable on E-Bay

Hey gang! I got my hands on a Civ III paperweight and I've put it up for sale on E-Bay. I've never seen this item anywhere else, so I'm assuming (insert your own joke here) that it is one of a kind. Anyway, click on the link below and check it out.

    Have fun bidding!

Twenty bucks for a rock with a logo on it?

Are you sure someone didn't hit you in the head with it first?
Infograme: n: a message received and understood that produces certain anger, wrath, and scorn in its recipient. (Don't believe me? Look up 'info' and 'grame' at dictionary.com.)

Oh no! this is trademark infringement! Quick! Let someone call Infogrames legal department! Justice must prevail!
Skeptics should forego any thought of convincing the unconvinced that we hold the torch of truth illuminating the darkness. A more modest, realistic, and achievable goal is to encourage the idea that one may be mistaken. Doubt is humbling and constructive; it leads to rational thought in weighing alternatives and fully reexamining options, and it opens unlimited vistas.

and after the C&D order is issued, infogrames will begin marketing on their own paperweight line, prices starting at $30. $50 for the "limited" edition, which will include the paper weight, a rubber band (so the following scrap of paper won't fall off), the "designers' notes" ("We dun founded diss heer rock and dun painted on it"), and include free delivery (the rock will be tossed through a window).

Hate to burst your bubble, but the rock in question is, in fact, an honest-to-goodness Infogrames-produced tchotchke.

Guys, I understand that it is a promotional item. I just didn't think that they were that wide spread. Perhaps I just have a little P.T. Barnum in me.

At any rate, I DID get Dan to reply to my post, and how many of you can say THAT!!!!!!!????!???

I don't think they are. The only reason I have mine is because I was the store where I preordered Civ3 LE didn't have it in on time. I was pissed. I even skipped a few classes that day to go and get it bright and early. So I sat there and debated corporate ethics with the clerck untill she just wanted me to leave. I said "Well I wont call and complain to the manager if you give me this here rock thingy and that there Darth Vadar poster"... heh
She was glad to see me leave.

The same thing happened to me. EB didn't have my Civ 3 LE (which was a complete waste of money, but that is another story for another time), so they gave me the paper weight to keep me from being too pissed until they did get me LE.

I have one. Of course, I work in a video game store. Us workers get first dibs on all the cool stuff.

A paperweight for $20? Man you guys are doing better than me, I would have no use for a paperweight. Unless they put a window in my cubicle...or a wall for a window for that matter. It's so dark down in the dungeon...

I was expecting the game itself to be the paperweight.
