  • What exactly is ZOC?

Zone of Control for civ3 is not clearly spelled out. From my reading it seems like ZOC was more important in civ2.

    What is ZOC?

    How does it work?

When is the ZOC flag in the editor ignored?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Simply means that an opposing unit will get a whack on the head every time it passes a unit with ZOC. Which really cramp your attacking style, getting all those hits as you advance.

Ah, so if we edit configuration and add ZOC to warrior/spearman/pikeman the AI will stop walking thru cities?

Basically, a unit with ZOC *may* take a free shot at a passing unit. If it misses, you don't see it. If it hits, 1hp loss. ZOC is fairly weak (well, compared to Civ II, which just didn't let you make the move). I actually like it, as wars tend to be very fluid, and mobility is King.

Having more units with ZOC means that attacking units will take more hits enroute to their objectives. May just weaken the attacker enough so that his attack fails. Makes for greater realism, I feel.
