  • Better use for the Pentagon small wonder...

Personally i think the Pentagon is rather a waste of a building space, especially for what it does and how rarely appears in a game of civ3.

What does eveyone else think, do they find a use for building the Pentagon?

Personally i see adding the Pentagon's ability to the Military Academy a far better use and then using the Pentagon's space in the editor for another city inprovement...

...such as Stock Exchange in the Corporation advance? At this time there is a distinct lack of city improvements to build and including something in Corporation might alleviate the boredom for a civ at peace during this time.

Anyone else any other ideas for another city improvement worthwhile to include to replace the Pentagon?

    Cheers.

I almost always build the Pentagon sometime during the industrial age. It makes my armies even more powerful, which results in an unstoppable war machine should I wish it. It can also mean that my borders are nearly impervious to attack.
I like CIV 3's corruption, combat system, cultural assimilation and AI.

      Armies are useless.
And, there are too many 'give-nothing' techs in Civ3.

        Are you actually playing Civ3?

Every single game I play, I get the ability to build the Pentagon. Given how powerful armies are, especially after the patch, all of the Army/Leader enhancing wonders are relatively critical. I build them as soon as possible (which is usually shortly after my first leader).

I use the Pentagon to reduce corruption because I've given it the reduce corruption option. Very useful.
Considering the number of replies I've written today that have 'modified this with the editor' in them, perhaps I'm not playing civ3 anymore. Civ3me perhaps.

I've thought of a Colony Administration as a small wonder. It eliminates corruption only in the city where it is built. It requires 5 courthouses. Unfortunately this can't be done via the editor.

I haven't built the Pentagon in my games yet. Your idea is good.

I built the Pentagon all the time, couldn't live without it. armies useless? NOTHING on earth can defeat a four strong elite modern armour army. With ONE of these babies I can blitzkrieg all the way from Istanbul to Constantinople!!

Something wrong with that, but I can't place it yet...

Anyway, it's true there are too many give nothing techs. what ever happened to the stock exchange? why did it go? there are WAY too few buildings in this game and many tech to put it on.
