  • Patch or expansion pack?

I know there is a current thread on this one, but I'd like to take it a little deeper.

What would you prefer Firaxis working on, more patches or an Expansion Pack?

And if you prefer to see them working on the XP, then please tell us what part of it you prefer to see (SP, MP, etc...)

    EDIT:

I could make it multi choice, but then you'll proberly just check all boxes Sure I'd like to see all things included, but lets just be little realistic

Personally I'd like them to be working on MP
    50
Patches. The game needs to get out of the beta state before making some add-ons for it
    52.00%
    26
XP. They really need to implent MP
    10.00%
    5
XP. They really need to make more Civs
    2.00%
    1
XP. They really need to add more advances and units
    6.00%
    3
XP. They really need to add more ways to play the game (If you got an idea please share it)
    4.00%
    2
XP. They really need to add something else (Please explain)
    4.00%
    2
Bananas. We need more bananas in the game
    22.00%

Patches. Some minor things are necessary to the basic version of Civ3, such as a complete rules editor and basic scenario tools (it seems to be on firaxis's agenda). Some minor gameplay flaws could be fixed, and minor additions (shift+j, alt+j) could be made, before they work on a big project such as MP or a coding language for modders.

I voted for bananas as I think it's too early for an expansion pack. But since 1.17 I'm not all that keen on patches as every patch seems to fix things that didn't need fixing and leaves bugs alone. The stacked movement good, but the reported A.I. tech trading very bad. I don't want to play one A.I. with 7 personas, I want to play 7 A.I.'s.
      Bananas seemed the safest option.

Bananas rule . They have my vote.

I'm pretty sure there will be an expansion with MP and hopefully some scenarios as well. I really liked the Civ2 scenarios and I don't see why there should be none of them in Civ3.
However, I think that both features should have already been implemented in the full version; the latter at the very least! It's a pity that the game was released in that state.

Voted Banana as in all of the above. In this
day and age, there is simply no excuse for putting out a game that is missing so much of the things we took for granted in the seemingly "inferior" older civs.

              Patches Baby.

While I still think it is a little harsh to call it a beta, it still needs tweaking.

I will agree that it seems each patch has made the game less fun for me personally due to some of the changes, while they have added some benefits, and have left other problems untouched. Quite puzzling really.

My thinking on the whole state of affairs is this. PATCH THE EDITOR. Give us the power to make the game what we want, don't go chasing 100 different opinions on how the game should be played and changing all the rules with the patches. Give us a scripting language, make the game rules more adjustable.

I must say I'm a little surprised that the Bananas has more voters than MP, as the game came out everybody was yelling: "Where is the MP?"... But I'm not surprised that there's more patch people than MP!

Small update: Patches have taken the lead now, so don't waste your energy by being too suprised . The reason I voted for bananas is just that the option was really funny.
I agree with Bill as for the Beta thing, you can't call the current version a beta in my opinion. There are too much things missing which should be there, though. The XP will probably solve that, provided that you have the extra money to pay for it. Well, I guess I'm whining about commercialism and such things once again...

Edit: sig, wrong statement in the 1st line.

as one of the MPers, IMHO i'd rather see them patch up SP before mucking around with the MP (and hopefully making a kickass MP as a result )

I think they need to make a patch that allows for proper scenario making. I really miss being able to make and play scenaros like we could in Civ2.

Personally I wouldn't call it a beta thing myself, cuz I do like the game as it is now, with the latest patch it has reached final But I have just heard a lot of people around whining about it being a beta, that's why I chose those words

This game is not "in the beta state ", you whiners , its working very well imo.
So I say go for the X-pack!

No..... on the other hand I vote for the bananas. Bananas are delicious though healthy.

Tech trading is a major new problem and I hope Firaxis takes expeditious action to remedy the situation. That said, if I had MP I could play against other humans and I wouldn't have to worry about Firaxis has tweaked (or not tweaked) the AI. The fact that CTP2 has MP and that it is so easy for everyone to fully customize the game to their tastes is a big reason why I'm still playing CTP2. Why can't Firaxis learn this?

I voted for an XP because they need the prospect of money to be able to do the major work that still needs to go into the game.

I myself don't care about MP or scenarios, I just want a solid normal game. I can understand people who strongly disagree and do care about those thing though.
