you guys must be masochists.
I play standard maps to avoid all this. Sometimes I play large maps though. But even standard maps seem to take too long. It takes forever just to get out of the ancient age.

I wouldn;t say I'm a massochist...
I like to have long strategic games with plenty of room to move so I play with only 4-6 other CIVs... and I don't know about 300 settlers.. I would max out at 100-150.
And it still takes 8-15mins.
But this is all academic! 8 mins or 80 mins, the AI is zzzzzzzzzzzzz!------------------------------------
