Civ3 is a 4x game or Build, Conquer, Discover, Explore but...
1. Building is limited in the second age.
2. Conquer is hardly an option unless you want to raze everything.
3. Discover is restricted by a linear tech tree.
4. Exploration is practically useless since you aren't going to build a successful branch of your civilization on another continent (thank you Corruption) and the AI aggressiveness means trading maps after the 50th turn will reveal everything anyway.
So....
For CIV 4 I want viable multiple options for victory and something a bit deeper than...settlers everywhere.....build forever....attack after getting Knights, Calvary, and maybe Tanks (Nationalism means the other WILL ally against you...trade all techs...).
I think a complete Civ 3 strategy gude would be about three pages long...or am I too cynical?
