  • I Just Like Whining Today

Civ3 is a 4x game or Build, Conquer, Discover, Explore but...

    1. Building is limited in the second age.

    2. Conquer is hardly an option unless you want to raze everything.

    3. Discover is restricted by a linear tech tree.

    4. Exploration is practically useless since you aren't going to build a successful branch of your civilization on another continent (thank you Corruption) and the AI aggressiveness means trading maps after the 50th turn will reveal everything anyway.

    So....

For CIV 4 I want viable multiple options for victory and something a bit deeper than...settlers everywhere.....build forever....attack after getting Knights, Calvary, and maybe Tanks (Nationalism means the other WILL ally against you...trade all techs...).

I think a complete Civ 3 strategy gude would be about three pages long...or am I too cynical?
We are all beta testers...can't wait for the finished version.

Your either too cynical or you don't play the game. My guess is both, but I could be wrong.
      Sorry....nothing to say!

        Nope, you're entirely wrong.

But the game just leads you to follow certain behaviors agan, again, and again.

When it's obvious there's only one correct strategy for a large part of the game your "options" are largely illusionary...I'm getting bored with it pretty quickly.

Not any more. Perhaps you haven't heard there's a patch available?

            First, I'm never "entirely" wrong.

Second. There are many strategies to this game. Look at all the posts on the board. Take a look at the strategy forum. If you think that your "one way" strategy is the only one, then you are the one who is "entirely wrong".
            Sorry....nothing to say!

I guess Tarq would disagree, but I don´t think we want to go there again, he hasn´t stopped talking in the last thread on this yet. Noone is really listening anymore but that doesn´t seem to bother him

Hmmm.... I would, maybe, yes I have stopped - korn (and Vel?) posted after me, in response to me, and obviouly read what I wrote. Both indicated that more discussion might be in order. It _does_ bother me if posters with something to say ignore me. There are other posters - ones who do little more than insult others - that I wish would just go away.

Thus, I feel completely justified in writing:
You're wrong, you jerk. Why don't you just go away? [Insert appropriate smilies to make this whole thing a good humored jest.]
