  • Question for Firaxis - More than one AI strategy..?!

I noticed in the new editor that it doesn't warn against giving more than one AI strategy to land, air or naval units anymore?!

Does this therefore mean that one could, for instance, give the F15 air bombard and air defence strategies and more importantly that the AI would use these appropriately and wisely??

Or give AEGIS naval missile transport and naval power?!

    Thanks in advance.

Multiple AI strategies for units is still unsupported in version 1.17f. I'm not sure why the help file is missing the warning.

Probably the same reason why the FAQ aint updated at civ3.com
(At least if Updated by DM means what I think it does)

        Mike, Soren, anyone...

please make support for offense + defense strategy

I want to make an offensive musketmen unit to be used for both offense and defense.

I think Soren mentioned this was done. Infantry attacking. Legions, etc defending. From time to time.

He was looking for feed back in the chat.

I don't know if Soren made changes to the AI for this kind of behavior or not but multiple AI strategies is not in 1.17f.

If it is 80% vs 20% than that's not what I want to get with an unit.

But, if it is 50% vs 50% then there is no point of having offnse vs defense strategies.

I wanted to make some sort of universal gunpowder unit for both attack and defense.

But I am curious, what will happen if I put both of these flags.
              How will unit behave?

              Soren?

There is a point. When you gat a city by culture you always get the best unit with defencive strategy checked, and the AI on higher level get free offensive and definsive units.

There's a way to have the AEGIS use missiles now. Look for a couple of threads, one's called Loadable Missiles, or something of that sort, the other's called Cruise Missile Tweaks.

I think that's a unit with draft button enabled (editor).

                    May be wrong.

Might be. Haven't investigeted that very mush. However the AI gets offencive and defencive units.

Wow, that was pretty cold. They tell me there's something that needs to go in the help file, I add it. Or, in this case, I remove it.

And then they didn't want it out?
