  • An idea for the CIV III X-Pack.

This might be out of Firaxis' court and in Infrogames, but I just had an idea.

Maxis released two versions of Sim City 3000, the origonal and the Unlimited version. Those who bought the origonal could buy the newer version at a discount ($10 US, if I remember correct). Why not release the Civ-III X-Pack as a standalone game, but current Civ II owners could buy it at a discount?

    And before I forget...

I doubt it. It would be a nice idea, but it goes against the current trends. Also, don't expansions tend to have more new features making them worth their usual price? I don't know the difference between Simcity3000 and the unlimited version. Would you say that there were enough features that it could have been made an x-pack?

Yes, there is. Unlimited added new buildings, scenario support, a program so users can create their own buildings, as well as a few other things. Yes, Unlimited could have been made into an X-pack.

I'd be a little annoyed if that happened, because i'd struggle to find proof of purchase, unless the original CD/Box counted??

As for an Expansion pack, I'd be perfectly happy to pay £15/£20 (about 25-30 'bucks' to you yanks) for one if it had enough features in it.

Rothy: For the rebate with Sim City 3000 Maxis needed the cupon inside the new version's box and the cover to the manual from the old version. Than about two weeks later I got $10 in the mail!

I posted this idea because many here object to buying an X-Pack because Civ III wasn't good enough for them (or whatever the case may be) This is just an alternitive.

Whoa! My spelling sucks. Too bad the spell check doesn't work here any more *hint hint*
