    That's the great thing about Civ3; there are so many ways to play. I don't have much time to play, so I play crowded maps for a fast game. Indeed, though I never seek war, I often find myself at war.

      Yummy Wars

      I like waging wars because of one, well, two basic ideas.

      1. The "what if" factor

      2. vent my anger from a bad day out on the poor AI

      The "What if" factor is like Russia taking over America, Germany actually defeating England and winning WW2 with no American intervention, Chinese armies marching into Tokyo, Zuluz beating back the European invasions and having 7 feet tall Zulu warriors sing war songs and banging war drums in the blood drenched streets of Paris or London, etc.

      I love the "parallel Earth theory" with "what if America never existed", "what if Zulus unified Africa under 1 rule", "what if Hitler was still alive in 2002 with a Nazi-World empire", etc. The possiblities are endless, and that is one reason why I enjoy the Civ style games and franchise.
      Geniuses are ordinary people bestowed with the gift to see beyond common everyday perceptions.
