  • Radio Tech Advance

I was setting here the other day playing CIV3 when I looked down at my paper tech tree provided with my Limited Edition Version and it had a City Improvement or a Great Wonder associated with it, but the in game tech tree doesn't reflect the same thing. So what was or is that sitting in the Radio Advance Tech Box on the paper Tech Tree.

Probably pointing out that the invention of Radio makes the Colossus obsolete. (it also lets you build airports, fighters, and bombers)

in my version of civ 3 it is flight which obsoletes the Colossus and allows fighters and bombers...

      ... I think
Do not be too proud of this technological terror you've constructed...

I don't really remember, but doesn't it also allow you to build air bases? or does civ3 even have air bases.... boy, it's been a long time since I've played.

Unfortunately there are no airbases in Civ3, only the airport city improvement

radio allows you to build airbases in civ2.

i wish there were airbases in civ3...

it just occured to me that i've had my civ2 tech tree poster stapled to my wall for something like 5 years
it's just my opinion. can you dig it?

              not really related

but you gotta love you can build aircraft carriers before you discover the art of flight

I cannot believe I posted what I did. It is flight that lets you do all those things. (as people have kindly pointed out without mentioning the fact I must have been on crack) As for radio, all I know is it is necessary to move on to the next era. (other than that, it does little to nothing)

Radio is a: Speedbump Tech ...

But the question of the thread starter IIRC was that there was something on the paper tech poster, i.e. they had something there but it seems to have been removed/not implemented?

Couldn't radio reduce corruption, or improve the range of fighters/bombers/naval units?

That is correct exactly. What is it that is shown there and why isn't it in the game?

Radio does nothing in civ3 but get you to the modern era and give you something that is tradable to other civs.

I could be wrong, but I believe that radio was originally supposed to allow the building of the UN wonder. This got changed but the chart for the LE did not. So, this could be the other object on the chart.
Cannon to the right of them
Cannon to the left of them
                        Cannon in front of them
                        Volley'd and thunder'd

I believe your absolutly right, because Fission doen't have the UN wonder on it on the LE chart. Wow that has to be it. Thanks.
