  • A question about starting points.

I have looked around the forumns and I have not found this particular questions asked, so here goes. I am starting to make custom maps and I need to know how to assign a specific starting point with a specific civ. So far, I have the starting points down, but it is completely random as far as which civ starts there. At least I think. Any help on this would be appreciated.

You can't assign starting positions with the editor. However, there are a couple of user-created programs that let you do this. Try a search for "starting position" in the Creation and Files forums.

If you are going to use my format I suggest you use Civ3CopyTool to generate the CPF files (files used by my tools to move the civs of a started civ), and then makes CPT follow your map. If you want to see it in action you can download Marla's map. It uses CPT with a script that runs it so that the user doesn't have to do anything more then save the game at 4000 BC, run the tool and load.
