  • Maximum number of cities before adding to corruption?

I read that there is a maximum number of cities a civillization could have without adding to corruption, and that this is related to the map size. Does anyone know what the numbers are for each map size?

I would say with the current corruption model you can get away with about 1 before it becomes crippling.

That is only a SLIGHT exaggeration!

Corruption,, and culture flipping borders and cities, remain huge problems with Civ III.

I've doubled the maximum number of cities and reduced corruption by adding the 'reduces corruption' option to granaries, barracks and temples. Might even add it to banks and cathedrals.
The results are somewaht bizarre when it comes to culture flipping. The lack of corruption leads to larger empires, but these cities are further away from your palace. This means that conquered cities tend to flip even when they have a lot of amenities (temples etc.), large populations, are surrounded by your (non-conquered cities) etc. What they do have is a large foreign population and history with that other civ. Coupled with the difference in distance from the respective palaces, this results in silly flips.
But fortunately for me, I cheat. Set the cost for propaganda to zero and buy the silly flippers back. Hah!
Of course, I do lose any units inside and most of the buildings.

raze the bastards to the ground and build your own new cities. Mao Tse Tang and STALIN didn't care about their enimies OR their own people. Why should you care about bits of code?

Yes, all power to Mao and Joseph. The only true civ builders! Caesar, Elizabeth, Lincoln, Ptuuheee!

                  Yep.

Where would Atlanta be without a good burnin? It would have too many old buildings.

But then again, how many senseless deaths can be laid at the feet of the later three?
