  • POLL: Which victory types have you achieved when playing Emperor/Deity?

In my experience, I have to position myself so that I could win a military victory before I have any chance to win another way... and that sort of takes the satisfaction out of the other victory types. Anyone have strategies that don't require military dominance?

    thanks,

I'd be surprised if you get a lot of responses here since most people here can't even beat anything above Prince. You would get a lot more if you posted in the strat forum, but unfortunately, they would probably say the post is off-topic and send it back here.

    Catch-22.

      Win on Emperor? Deity?
Geez, people have lots of spare time. I have never been able to "master" any game like that (well maybe some few).

I have not even dared to try out the Prince level.
Cake and grief counseling will be available at the conclusion of the test. Thank you for helping us help you help us all!

Domination is probably easiest, but I have won on deity with space victory, and on emperor with diplomatic. I usually try diplomatic to avoid the turns it takes to win by spaceship, but in the deity game mentioned above I had no chance. Some early conquering is necessary to be ahead in tech before it gets critical, but I wouldn't call these games warmongering games. I was in democracy researching like mad from 1000AD or so in both games.

I won on Emperor with a domination victory, but it took over 2 months. I don't sit down and play for 8 hours at a time, just like 3 or 4 hours a week. It's kind of cool that way because it feels more like you're running a country. While I'm walking to work or something I find myself thinking about what strategies I should take, etc.; kind of feels like I really am the leader of a country.
