  • playback options-- saveable???

Playback is a neat feature. I cannot figure out how to send results to a file instead of to the screen. Screen is nice but pain to pause and write down all the information to attempt to do a postmortem on a completed game. Anyone have any hints on how to get this info into text file?? Any success cut and pasting into wordpad, etc???

As always, thank you for your advice.

I think the graphics run on DirectX. If so, Windows is an invisible process. Sorry.

Graphics may be as DirectX, but it is possible to bring up the Windows start menu, at least by pressing the "menu" key. I know they have turned off Tab-Shift, but the menu key {enhanced keyboard} brings up the W98 taskbar. I plan to check to see if Control-Enter works tonight.

Well, good luck. But since the process is invisible, what ought to happen when you call Windows is that the other process becomes invisible. (Your game will disappear.)

          SUCCESS

Was able to have civ3 and WordPad open at the same time. I'll have to double check to see if there is a pif or registry entry that will allow normal activation via Control-Enter. I have one of those keyboards with a separate key for Windows menu. The hot key combinations are disabled but not the Windows key. Pressing the windows key brings up the Windows task bar. I can launch WordPad and it floats over the civ3 game. When I minimize WordPad all I see is civ3, but when repress windows key then the taskbar is moved to foreground and I can restore WordPad.

The really interesting test will be if I can run Lotus and civ3 at the same time.

So even if this is the only way to run civ3 and another application at the same time it might be worth it to buy a $15 keyboard with the menu key.

Oh, this is pre 1.16f patch. I will have to retest after add patch.
