  • Spaceship building

Was wondering about the time it takes to build your spaceship. I always launch well before getting anywhere near finishing the modern tech tree.
I would like to try out those fancy looking radar artillery ...(without shutting off the spacerace victory option)

I seem to recall that Civ1 allowed you to build the spaceship and then launch whenever you wanted to. I think Civ2 was when they ruined that.

Hmm, try out my civ3mod. I moved the spaceship components to the higher techs, and increased their construction costs. My civilopedia file is almost correct - I replaced 'integrated defense systems' with 'deep space exploration' but have yet to update the description (also moved SDI to 'smart weapons' tech). Enjoy.

Not correct. In civ2 you could also launch when you wanted to by clicking the launch button. And even in civ3 you have a launch button, but I don't know if it works properly. But if it does and the AI is behind in tech and in building the spaceship parts, then you could wait until they are almost ready to launch.
