  • Are mulitple leaders possible?

Simple question, but it's an important one. Is it possible to have more than one available leader? Undoubtedly, every time I go into Mobilization mode, I'll get a leader a couple of turns later...long before the war is over. You can't get out of mobilization without coming to peace terms, and can't build non-military imps while mobilized for war. (As a sidenote...are any wonders able to be built during mobilization? Leo's Workshop, Sun Tzu's?)

So, invariably, I go through the rest of the war with no available leader, because after building the first army of the game to get my Mil Academy/Heroic Epic, I refuse to build an army with a leader...so, the leader is put in my capital, fortified. I'm left wondering, is it just luck of the draw that I'm not getting a great leader the rest of the war, or the fact that I already have one precludes me from getting a second?

I admit being able to potentially stockpile leaders has a huge window for abuse...but...but...hehe. It sucks having to fortify a leader because of having nothing to use him for at the time, then not getting another until you use him up.

Ignore me, I got confused between Armies and Leaders. Sorry.

As far as I know, only 1 leader can exist at a time. If you use him to build something, or create an army, then another leader may be generated by successful combat. There is also a limit to the amount of armies you can have, I think it's based on the # of cities you own.

I think you can only have 1 leader at a time. It is possible to have armies and get a leader.

I'm playing with the Aztecs right now. They are militaristic and that produces many many leaders it seems, I've about 5 or 6 this game so far. If I'm not going to be doing very much warnig or or I'm getting close to wanting to build a wonder I'll keep the leader for that. Otherwise I'll build an army expecting to get a new leader soon.

I have yet to get a leader. I'm playing with the Zulu and I had an Impi go on a barbarian killing spree so I could generate a leader. I've gotten NOTHING!!! This sucks. He's been elite FOREVER! Somebody give me a clue here.

I think I have seen several enemy armies at a time, but maybe they had built the relevant minor wonder so they could build up leaderless armies...

That's correct, once a leader is turned into an army, it doesn't count as a leader. You can have an army (created by converting a leader) for every so many cities.

Leaders can't be generated by combat against barbarians. Sorry to break it to you, but you'll have to do it the hard way - actually going to war with the AI

As far as I know, it is not possible to get multiple leaders. This is a real nuisance seeing as though I would stockpile them too.

You can't get leaders from barbarians unless you modify the rules.

By the way, I was wondering, I sometimes get leaders off conscript units, is this normal?!?!

Conscripted units gain experience like normal units, and are thus eligible to become leaders.

But only once they've hit elite level, of course.
