  • Coastal Fortress...working after patch??

I don't know if this has already been posted, I haven't checked the board in quite sometime and there are too many threads to sift through, so....

I installed the patch and was wondering if anyone else who did so has had a coastal fortress actually fire a shot at the enemy. I had a war going with the Japanese, and my costal fortresses all down the coast were silent as Japanese transports and battleships steamed right past my cities within one tile. I started to think that they only fired on a ship that attacked the city...then it happened and still no costal fortress support. Hhmmm..anyone else?

    No they are not,

Dan confirmed it in an other thread. Actually it's not a coding bug it's a design bug. Dan explained that it will fire at ennemy ships moving from one tile adjacent to the coastal fortress to an other tile adjacent but it will not fire against a ship that pulls in to attack and then pull back.

In other words it's useless against an attack.

"In other words it's useless against an attack"

in other words its useless against anything, because humans, and even the AI know how to avoid ZOC. the coastal forts were a good idea, but very poorly implemented

right now they are as usless as helicopters
The Civ3 world is one where stealth bombers are unable to sink galleons, Man-O-Wars are a powerful counter to battleships, and knights always come equipped with the AT-S2 Anti-Tank Sword.

The Simwiz2 Combat Mod Version 2.0 is available for download! See the changes here. You can download it from the CivFanatics Thread or the Apolyton Thread.

Thanks guys. I'll make a note not to build them anymore.
