    Now, after the patch, police station can reduce corruption as well as war weariness. Has anyone has a quantified measurement? Also, does Universal Suffrage has synergy with PS?

    I posted on this in the strategy forum, but I think it might be a little hard to find...

    The "Reduces Corruption" toggle in the editor (which was used to add corruption-fighting power to the Police Station) tells the feature to reduce corruption by 1/3. In multiple buildings these effects synergize by multiplication. That is, the first corruption-fighting building cuts corruption to 66% of its initial level. The second building cuts corruption to 44% of its initial level, NOT 33%. If you add the corruption-fighting ability to a third building, corruption will drop to 29% of its initial level, a change of 15%.

    This means that Police Stations are much better buildings to have than Courthouses in a Democracy. New cities in a Democracy should always build the Police Station first, and then a courthouse when there's time. The Police Station does synergize with Universal Sufferage, though I haven't yet managed to quantify this. Another point to note is that in cities near the capital or FP, having both a Courthouse and Police Station may not be worthwhile. There's a law of diminishing marginal returns in that having one building may be more valuable than having two. If corruption is low initially, then the further loss of corruption caused by having two buildings may not cover the cost of maintenance. Check this out yourself. You may find that it's less expensive to actually sell your courthouse in cities near the capital, eat the slight increase in corruption, and not have to worry about paying for it.
