Is it just me or does it seem like Firaxis did a marketing survey and find that the target market for this game are those people who decided that Barney the Dinosaur and Mr Rodgers are no longer fun but still don't have that first pubic hair? Looking at the advisor faces and enduring the game end screens makes me think the game has been refaced to appeal to 4th graders. The one thing (among many) about Civ Call to Power I really appreciated was that it treated me as an adult. Even as a kid I liked when I was treated like an adult.

    It's just you.

    Sorry....nothing to say!

Oh gee I was probably the first to use the word devolution in connection with Civ3 here, but it was the gameplay I was referring to.

I think devolution is a word.

Yeah, the game needs more angsty goths, industrial punk, and cussing to apeal to the "mature" 16-24 age group.

I think Firaxis said: "We don't have much talent or time. What's the best way to sell a bunch of games out of the gate?"

Raises hand: "False-advertising and bobbing 3D heads."

          The rest is history ...

            Don't forget:

"Oooh, ooh. How about we slap some magical words like 'Meier' and 'Limited Edition' on it?"

"Great idea Jenkins! Anything with 'Meier' on it will sell like hotcakes! Now for our next topic, we need a way to sell a lame Golf game...any ideas?"

LOL! I was including 'Meier' on the box as part of the false advertising.

I think another guy (from France, no less) said it best about the Limited Edition: The contents of the box are actually of limited interest.

Ironicly, when I purchased Civ3, I held both in my hand and ultimatly decided on the regular version for reasons unknown. I as unable to play it that day thanks to work, but was dissappointed with myself that I didn't buy that shiny tin with the magical script upon it. The next day, I went to a friend of mine's house and saw this super-duper 'limited' edition....

Well...I don't really believe in God in the classical sense, but I am now convinced that there are certainly guardian angels to prevent us from making monumentally stupid decisions.
