  • What is that Industrial Times piece of classical music...?

I ike it and I'm sure I've heard it before... like the wonder music themes in Civ2, could at least that one be a blatant ripoff of 'real music'?

I don't know the tiltle, but I think that it was also used in 'The Sims.' I hope that helps...

              Classical music

I bet I'd know it, only I haven't gotten Civ III yet (I own a Mac).

But the reason I am posting is that this thread reminds me of the scene in Schindler's list where the two Nazis storm into a house in the Ghetto in Poland with their guns blazing. They stop upon hearing a piano playing and one says "Ah, Bach" (which is correct) and the other contradicts him, insisting it's Mozart. Anyone with any culture points knows Bach sounds nothing like Mozart and cannot possibly be confused with Mozart. After the two agree it is Mozart, they return to a brutal and indiscriminate shooting binge...

                It sounds like Bach

OK, I WAS a music major, so I really SHOULD know this, but by the sounds of it it's a Baroque or Classical piece but probably Bach- actually, the more I listen to it, the more I think it's a Classical composition (with the dramatic middle section), but I'm not really sure. Now I think it might be Mozart. Now it's driving me crazy- somebody who knows must go listen to it and tell me NOW- It's on the cd in civ3\sounds\build\IndModern and called IndGRFull.mp3

there ya go! Actually, I LOVE classical music, but only the Romantic period is interesting to me. I know plenty of people who love Baroque and especially Bach , but it's really not my cup of tea. As for Mozart, I admire his brilliance, but he has never really inspired my passions in any way compared to the emotional fury of Beethoven and the newly-found freedom of everyone (Schubert, Liszt, CHOPIN!!) who followed him. Anyway, the piece in question is very Baroque in style (although played on a piano- pianos were a later invention) with a rather classical-sounding flourish in the middle- which confuses me into saying its either Bach with an inspired flourish of genious, or Mozart giving homage to an earlier musical style.

I might also be smoking crack.

P.S. how about a 'Jazz Age' wonder for civ4? Happiness + Cultural Assimilation bonus?

Speaking of Mozart... playing Civ3 a few times in a row reminds me of Mozart's comment about Salieri's march composed in his honor, which Mozart played from memory at the request of the Austrian Emperor. When he got past the first refrain, Mozart looked back over his shoulder at Salieri. "And now it's just more of the same, isn't it?"
