  • Ever notice the Beatles references in Civ3?

Like when you change governements in the domestic advisor she asks:
"So you say you want a revolution?"
"Yes, you know it's gonna be alright."

And when you poll an unhappy citizen. If they are suffering from war weariness they say: "All we're sayin' is give peace a chance!"

Who said Firaxis puts only an American slant on games!
I want to make a joke about a British invasion too, but I can't think of a clever one.

Hmmm, can these texts be changed?

    I dislike Beatle references.

    -edit-

Ok, found out that these particular texts can be changed in scripts.txt- which is good.

Just click the unhappy citizen xentropy, and "it's gonna be allright"!
If you didn't already know the reason for him/her being unhappy, he/she will tell you. If there are more reasons causing this, they will give the answer on a percentage basis, like: 25% it's way too crowded, 75% We can't forget the oppression you put on us.

And BTW: Beatles rules, and Lennon references rules!

I Think the Firaxis boys had quite a bit of fun with their quotes. Yes I noticed the Beatles quotes, but there must be a lot of hidden meanings that I haven't sussed yet.

I found the "All your base are belong to us" quote quite funny after reading Smellymummy's thread, at first I thought it was just plain bad English. Check out the thread, highly amusing.

Hey these quotes certainly add to the game in my opinion, thay sort of make it a little bit more human. I can kinda imagine the guys at Firaxis sitting around a table and firing quotes at each other whilst smoking the whacky backy and knocking back a few shots of bourbon.

I was half expecting somebody to be reporting a sighting of a yellow submarine.

                      Beatles

I'd like to see a Beatles wonder for the modern age....as soon as its built, adoring fans from all around the world watch them on the Ed Sullivan show, thus raising happiness for every civ with television. Then, after a few years, they start writing anti-war songs and make it harder to declare war, until someone builds the Yoko wonder, which causes them to break up...
