  • Carrier use: is it supposed to be this tedious?

So, I finally got around to using a few carriers full of bombers as artillery support for an invasion. However, it's so tedious there's practically not a point; any time you move a carrier, every bomber on it goes to sleep, and you have to wake up every blasted one of them.

Gah. Is there something I'm missing?

    it would be nice to

have the ability to identify groups.

so you could select a group and they would all wake up.

Well waking them all up *is* simplified SLIGHTLY by right clicking the stack and holding shift as you click each of the bombers. That avoids right clicking repeatedly...

xentropy, true, but i still agree with karlmarx (i mean the first poster not the..). Shift right click still involves clicking, major clicks even. Have you grouped 4+ carriers together yet? What if you got jet fighters (ok pre patch this didnt matter, now it does tho) ?

You still need to read through the list, and for perfectionists, this will happen. Scan the list of units, reread to make sure, then make sure the right unit is clicked. Tedious, however the fun of bombing the hell out of an enemy justifies this somewhat. I'd still like to see stacking of units, or a grouping, like many RTS, or even CTP series w/o combined attack of course (that would just change the game too much). While i'm no big fan of RTS, I've played a few, and the simple click, hold, drag, and select bunch of units is simply so simple and standard, it should be added to the next patch. read markg's review, he even gripes about it

          thanks

          "or a grouping"

          you seem to agree afterall.

the group could have any combination of units and simply
by pressing a number key you could activate and move/attack..etc..

why it sounds just like Star craft and others.

            A propos carriers.

Is the AI able to handle/use carriers? And/or make invasions from sea?

Or are those "for human use only" just as all other Civ and CTP games?!
First they ignore you. Then they laugh at you. Then they fight you. Then you win.

              seems so

in my game...i watched as 4 russian carriers launched waves of bombers against an enemy ai.

Trouble is --every ai nation seems to focus bombing on land improvements (unless there are actual enemy units out and about).

Otherwise, they don't seem to actually attack cities.

I am assuming this may be difficulty setting related tho.

On monarchy level..the ai seems rather easy.

(for example hords of units will race up to a city but then not attack --i don't know if they would next turn 'cause they never survive that long.)
