  • 1.16f diplomacy bug?

after i installed the patch i started a new game.

    everything worked fine.
i also noticed an impressive decrease of turn times.
i can say the game is now approx. 50% faster
i have all 'show..... moves' enabled

however i discovered a bug of the 1.16f version!

it was very easy to notice it.
i cannot see any lines in the diplomacy screen with the circles and the faces of the other leaders. currently i'm at peace with all of them but i see no lines when i check the peace box.i have also built emassies with two of them but still the peace lines do not appear.
whatever box i check (war, peace, right of passage.....) i see no lines. even when i choose the face of another leader to see what his relationship is with the other nations and me, nothing appears.

has anybody else encountered this problem?
or is it a change and i must do something(like a tech advance) to
    see the lines?

    helppp

    Justice for all...........

You aren't alone - once you go into any other advisor, poof, lines are gone. You also don't get the popup for their opinion of you in the foreign advisor screen.

This, in my mind, is a far more serious bug than anything the patch addressed - how do you play Civ if you can't even tell the political state of the world?

Yeah I got the same problem too, no coloured lines on the diplomacy page even on the menu part. They seem too disapear after you look at the military screen.

This is a huge pain in the arse because you can't really play civ without the diplomacy page working especially in the later ages.

FIRAXIS please get it fixed soon

problem in science screen with scenario

In addition to the problem on the foreign advisor screen, there is a problem on the science advisor screen.

If you use a modified bic file in the scenario folder, it starts out ok with dependency lines on the science screen. However, the lines end up disappearing. You can still select advances (impossible before the patch), you just can't see the dependences. (at least post patch the science advisor isn't completely broken, just half broken ). So scenario bics are still broken.

This is on a WindowsME machine that worked fine before the patch.

One more in the count, i've downloaded the patch, install, all as usual, and there was the new bug to fix: no lines in the diplomacy box. I've tried some things: reboot the PC after installing it, or deleting the (very good) graphics mods.

I think i'll have to reinstall the game and wait the patch for the patch. I can´t play if i don´t know the relations between the other civs, and that is the only way to know how they are! How Firaxis tested it?

Two steps forward, one step back

Yeah, I get the same problems

perhaps Firaxis should consider letting US beta test there patches before putting them on their website for the general public.

            Whens 1.17f due then Soren????

Count me in. Diplomatic relation lines disappear too. Exiting the game and returning to it fixes the problem, but only temporarily. That needs an emergency fix.

Harfang, the correct version of the patch fixes the problem of disappearing diplomacy lines. However, if you're running Win98 and running at a higher res than 1024 it will introduce a new bug where black rectangles (offset city title borders) will be displayed all over your map after you visit an advisor. The only work around for this one is to only play in 1024

Actually, the lines reappeared after I installed the second version of the patch, but the second time I went to diplomacy they were gone again.

Its a bug that has nothing to do with the minor difference between the patches.

the problem has now dissapeared after i installed the updated patch.

i have been playing for about 3 hours and everything so far works fine.
