I mean seriously, what have they really done with this patch? Sure, they fixed alot of bugs, but bugs weren't really the problem for this game. Civ3's problem is gameplay related. And they only made things worse by making it now 40 turns for max amount of science turns. Great, now republic will take 40 turns intead of 32 no matter what the tax rate. As if techs didn't take long enough already. People are going to mod this thing like crazy, kind of like with CTP. Now maybe that's ok for SP, but for MP? How can you have an MP game that has no real standard? I guess after reading the patch update all I can say is this...**** you Firaxis and you too Infogrames.

Dammit all those punctuation errors were pissing me off!
Time and time again I've had to put up with the AI's poor use of the English language!!! Grrrr....
But no more!!
Yippeee!!
Hey, at least they fixed Air Superiority... look on the bright side.
Overall though, if you have a car with wheels on only one side of it, adding a spare tire isn't all the useful really though, is it?

I get too bored of the game to even reach a point where I get Jets. They even made it easier to assimilate cities through culture!!!! All this ****ing complaining about how a captured city reverts back and how military is useless and they make culture even more powerful!!! Are they ****ing stupid? I can't take it anymore. I'm done with this game. 10 years of playing this game and I have never been more disappointed in my life. Where the **** was the combat modification? Where the **** was the tech change so that the science rate is actualy useful!!!

So who of you actually thought that there would be scenario and MP support included in the patch?
Come on, don't be a stranger....raise your hands
Guess this means you'll be paying for scen and MP, not once, but twice! Excuse while I'll hold my breath for the 'super duper - scenario and MP included- gold' edition, to be exclusively released somewhere far into next year, a few months after the translated versions have been released.
The Civ3 apologists will probably keep jabbering about this being a good thing. Yeah sure, whatever...Skeptics should forego any thought of convincing the unconvinced that we hold the torch of truth illuminating the darkness. A more modest, realistic, and achievable goal is to encourage the idea that one may be mistaken. Doubt is humbling and constructive; it leads to rational thought in weighing alternatives and fully reexamining options, and it opens unlimited vistas.

That would be a nice chance to just really ****ing ruin their corporation. Also, thanks for responding to what I said by reall refuting my statements. Simply stunning! Ladies and gentlemen, the great Firaxian Dave Magaha!

That's a Derek Smart move, Dan. Does this mean I'm on your ignore list?
My main interest for Civ3 is based on scenarios and MP which I enjoy playing very much in Civ2. Also the reason why I haven't looked into Civ3 yet. Civ3 interests me, but the threshold for me to play hasn't been reached, yet.
The patch solves a lot of bugs and minor issues for SP. The news on the scen and MP side. Is still unknown at the time.
And please, don't fall to Derek's level.Skeptics should forego any thought of convincing the unconvinced that we hold the torch of truth illuminating the darkness. EnigmaticGod, it's you who's the moron.
There's a lot of people who have been criticising the game in a civil way (yin26, Venger) and receiving a lot of flak from people telling them to not play or post if they don't like it. This is dumb because those two want the game to be good...
You on the other hand are a silly, dumb little boy who really isn't contributing anything. Alienating the people who can help you is not going to get you the changes we want!

You're taking this this a bit too seriously. It's a game. You didnt have to buy it and you don't have to go on playing it if you don't want to.
Maybe the problem is you, friend. It sounds like the SP TBS empire-building thing is just no longer your cup of tea. But what did you expect when you bought it???
That's OK, though.
If you don't like the game, don't play it. Sell it and move on. There's a big, wonderful world out there full of other computer games and even other areas of entertainment.

I was very nice at one point, but the time for civility has ended. You can't be nice with these people, it just doesn't work. As soon as you say "nice patch" they're going to say "Thanks, enjoy the game. we'll see you when civ4 comes out". And this also bring up another interesting point. Notice the people who love the game, all new players to apolyton. Notice who most the people are who hate the game? People who have been at apolyton for years. It just goes to show that Firaxis didn't have the hardcore gamer in mind, rather they built this for the casual lets kill some time gamer. Is that a bad thing? Well lets just see how long Civ3 is popular for. Somehow I don't think the "Lets kill some time" gamers are going to be around 6 months from now.
