  • Yeah, that's just plain weird

Anybody noticve that carriers become available after mass production is discovered? But not after FLIGHT?
    What are my scientists thinking?

"Yeah, lets make a really huge ship with a big, flat top"
"Oh, so airplanes can take off from it?"
"What are these "airplanes" you speak of?"

couldn't the two technologies have been tied together, requiring both for carriers? I'm pretty sure there isn't any precendence for that anywhere in the Civ 3 tech tree is there though?
Anyway, thought I'd let the world know of my confusion, and the false hope that I had actually gotten flight but just forgotten about it in the game I'm currently playing.

that is plain weird when you look at it that way, but it's never affected me: all the games I've played I got flight before mass prod

Sure, flight before hand would probably be a much more common progression, but I went for tanks since I was at war with everyone else except the stupid English who I was trying to help.

that makes sense. I usually wait the longest I can until I go for motorized transport since I usually have a whole bunch of cavalry, and theres nothing more I hate than obsolete units. Besides having bombers available - and they are quick to crank out - can seriously hamper any enemy advancement, and seriously help any invasion.

Maybe the first carriers were built in the game to be really tall barges...so that you could carry cargo on the outside and in the hold. It would just be very hard to load. Or a REALLY big houseboat...or a pleasure cruiser that had the worlds largest sundeck and shuffleboard game. Later, when airplanes are discovered, it all fits into place....
