  • The way overseas trade should be

In CtP2 you could always tell what was being traded and by whom by the little icons traveling along the dotted lines right?

Well i think that when you have an open sea route and are currently trading rescs or lux that there should be this dotted line(mapped out by you ) along with icon(and even turns remaining) for easy reference.

On top of this you should then have to assign a transport ship to this route at which time the ship begins traveling back and forth along your pre-dsignated trade route untill it is either sunk or the deal runs out.

Of course you would be able to add escort ships to your route as well.
Well I think you all know where Im going with this when you add in privateers and war to the mix.It would be Awsome.

In the case of privateers -if your route is severed you lose all benifits of the lost commodity untill you assign another ship--The host nations pirate that did it would recieve X amount of cash directly to its treasury.

Of course this is all just wishful thinking but it would have been cool --sigh--

First, those lines in CTP looked like $hit...

That said, I think privateers and sea routes are a hackneyed throw on to this game - does the privateer do anything in the released game but sink? The answer is no.

A privateer within a cities radius (within two hexes) should DISRUPT ALL SEA TRADE FOR THAT CITY.

God, why am I not designing a game somewhere? I have the gift...

I dont use stock privateers I use the new improved model

Anyway for someone that seems to have a real big problem with the interface i would think that you would like to have these references on screen instead of buried somewhere else.

Oh yea and it could be little white dots or little sailboats or more importantly have a hotkey to togle the display on or off.

Me too, my first iteration of improved privateer also has a 1 strength bombard! It's pretty decent. Although after my first game, I think I'm going to do the definitive mod for Civ3 (with the appropriate help of course) and it likely will be changed a bit more than just 2(1)/1/3...

I just didn't care for the way it was done in CTP - your next recommendation is on the money.

That'd be a superior way to do it - only look at trade if you want to...most times it'd be off, except when toggled on...
