  • Hi new here, some impressions

Greetings y'all, my first post here.

I played Civ, Civ II and CTP 2 but not on an intense level. Actually I really suck on harder settings.

Played Civ III for a while and I actually like the new interface and options. Although I read a lot of negative complaints I don't think it is a bad game.

The problem I experienced has not much to do with the quality of the game but with the genre itself.

I call it the "C&C syndrome". Meaning this. C&C was my 1st rts experience and it was awesome. By the time they released Tiberian Sun I got tired of the formula and the latest release Yuri's revenge only stayed on my HD for a week. Although Yuri's revenge is not a bad game, it plays more or less like the 1st C&C and I'm bored of it.

For me Civ III plays more or less the same as Civ I. Which is good if you still like the genre but I guess I'm done with this tbs kind of games. Just tired of it. So I'm afraid Civ III won't stay long on my HD.

I'm in for some new and different kind of gameplay in the strategy genre. I think I'm going to buy and play EU II until I'm bored of that one too. I read a lot of good stories about it.

Like I said, liked the game but a bit tired of the genre. Gameplay of the civ building series hasn't changed that much over the years. Which is a good and a bad point IMO.
