  • Luxury resource limit??

What is the criteria for luxury resource to show up in the city screen?

I have dye, ivory and silk in all city screen. I also have gold within my border and connected by railroad to all cities. But gold never shows up in the city screens.

    1. WITHIN border + road -> available. Is this correct?

    2. Is there any limit on the luxury resource from your own land (like 3)?

Gold is not a luxury, but a bonus resource. It's only contribution to your empire is when you work the tile it's on.

Gold is not a luxury resource, it's a bonus resource.

gold is not a luxury resource.

it's one of those bonus resources, like the cows, game, etc...

If I read right from the chat transcript, there will never be more than 1 luxury per civ(per type of lux. but can be less). And, there will always be at least 1 strategic resource per civ (per resource, but could be more)

Also, anyone else finding oil very hard to see when it appears in tundra with forests??? Or coal in jungle?

It's not allowed to be traded either. Bonus resources, including Fish, Whales, Grain, Game and Gold are only there to serve a small bonus for the particular city that is fortunate enough to be within range of one to actually assign a worker to the tile andreap it's various bonuses. That's the extent of their use.

I can never find any of the resources on the screen . except saltpeter

I usually have to bring up the trade advisor screen to see what I have.

On the visibility issue. Thank god, I thought it was only me Shouldn't there be an overlay where the squares with strategic resources are hilighted or something?

                Cheers,
