I have played for hours and hours now and I have some suggestions for making the game a better game.
My experience so far are that science are too fast and units become obsolete to fast, also units sometimes take to long to build. So before I manage to build a large army to attack my enemies my units are obsolete.
A solution for this is to increase the time needed to research advances and slightly increase the time to build city improvements. You could also lower the cost of building units some.
In my latest game I played on a standard map with six other civilizations. Every civ had about fifteen to twenty cities. I could build normal units like one every five turn in my best cities (five or six of them). By the time i built a sizeable army I had to upgrade them to better units. The game just doesn’t give me enough breathing space to wage war.
It’s a little too easy to just conquer by culture instead.
