It happened in Civ2 just not very often from my experience.

it was the same as civ 1 for me, if the civ was the most powerful on the planet and you took their capitol then it split.

I've seen no evidence that this would happen, and it wouldn't really work from a culture point of view.

Does CApturing an Enemy Civ give a chance of the Civ splittig in two?
