  • Soren, Please Explain This One???

Soren, please explain this one. I have a spaceship - all components built, to the best of my knowledge. Yet, when I click that little "s" button down there on the bottom right side of the game, it won't let me see the ship screen to launch. The histograph comes up (shows me severely dominating, by the way), the palace, esponiage, everything else but the ship.

Interestingly enough, when I retire it doesn't show a score for me either. Give me your e-mail address and I'll send you the saved game, but right now this is EXTREMELY crappy because I've invested 20+ hours in this game and can't win.

Oh, it gets even better. I check the high scores on my game and it shows I've lost...HOW? Geezus, I've got about 2/3rds of the world under my domination, no one is within at least one (if not 2) "eras" and I've lost?

The only thing I can think of that's weird that might affect this is the UN, which I built and there's never been a vote.

Right now, if I have my receipt I'd take this back to the store for a refund...

Try finishing your turn... if that doesn't work, post your save game and I'll have a look at it.
        - What's that?
        - It's a cannon fuse.
        - What's it for?
        - It's for my cannon.

          I did. No dice.

What's your e-mail address - or e-mail me at the above and I'll reply with the file.

            ?

what is your civ's date? i've heard that u can't launch the SS after 2050, which is when the game officially ends. maybe you're past that date, and alrdy "lost" ?

1950. I've sent off the file to Soren to check out. If I have to venture a guess, I'd say that somehow building the UN somehow "caused" my Civ to lose.

My hat is off to Soren. Not only did he respond quickly, but he's looking into what caused the problem and has fixed my saved game so that I can actually win the game.

While I still think there's room for improvement in Civ 3, I have 3 cheers for Soren's customer response. Thanks amigo!

Hey Soren, that's a real classy job you are doing there by fixing this personally and not going through the tech support loop. Feel free to pass this on to your boss if you like. It's good to see people this involved!
