All complainers stop posting here and go back to civ2
I appreciate both the "whiners" and the "we love civ3ers". I haven't bought the game yet and my decision hinges on what is said and is not said in these forums. Feel free to ignore the those who "whine" about the bandwidth as there are many more like me who are lurking the boards in an attempt to discern the facts from the fiction surrounding Civ3. Thanks.
Thanks for the advice, but I'm going to hold off a bit regardless. I don't expect this game to be worthy of purchase until the second of third patch, unless by some stroke of genius they do a bang up job on the first patch -- I'll just have to wait for the consensus on that one -- otherwise I'm just teasing myself with a potentially good (great?) game.
lol, I only created this thread for the reactions.
but anyways, I find it interesting people complain so much about a game and say civ2 is better. Logically, if civ2 is a better game, then why not play civ2?
And by suggestions I'm not talking about writing code. We all know the combat system in civ3 is kind of weak. How about suggested fixes such as firepower. I can't explain why they took that out. I guess they wanted to make things simpler for the novice player. Nothing simpler than seeing your tank destroyed by a spearman
and what is wrong with my handle? I've changed it too many times already. I really don't want to do it again.
and I admit I'm b!tching about the b!tchers . It takes a long time to wade through all these threads
I saw a post from a Firaxis programmer saying that the firepower thing was a complicated waste that didn't really do much to the units in the end. He's definately the expert compared to me, but I think it sure made a difference.
firepower didn't do much? How can he say that. Maybe then they should have boosted attack ratings of some units then. We can do that ourselves of course. But I still miss the rules.txt .
bring back firepower dammit!!. put a firepower of 1 on a cruise missile in civ2 for an example. Cruise missles from an ai usually hurt me bad. But when you give it a fp of 1 this is not the case. This is the best example I can think of. Another example is artillery and tanks in civ2- both have attack ratings of 10. tanks have a fp of 1 where artillery has a fp of 2. I did not notice much difference until I played ww2 scenarios in the add-ons such as east wind, (or whatever it was called ). Artillery was more effective at city busting than tanks.

Whose bandwith? This is a community forum, open to anyone who plays Civilization III. More specifically this is the General Discussion, which means anything in general.
This is not the "Civilization III love fest no whinners allowed" board. This is not YOUR site. This is OUR site, including myself, and any possible whinner.
Just to remind you, this forum belongs to Markos and Dan, it is open to anyone they hand a password to, whom they dont choose to ban You want abstract discussions of who "owns" a public forum, go to USENET. This aint no public forum.

Hey dissident, I didn't read your article (without losing respect, jst saw many) but just this:
Or you're for evolution and propose ways of making something better, or you may just say "oh, it's better than the last one" and stick to this. Personnally, I'll always try to make something better if it's not perfect.
