  • 'Fine ÿÿÿ◘◘ Settler'

I dunno if this has been noted before but here's the deal:

If you build a settler in a city which has only foreign citizens but is under your control you create a ÿÿÿ◘◘ Settler. Rightclicking on it will display that the Settler is (Barbarian) but when you build a city with it there does not seem to be any problem.

Seems like an uninitialized string to me.

This was in the tutorial, right? I've seen it as well.

I dunno about any tutorials being in the game, but if there are any I doubt any tutorial would continue until the 1500's AD

I've seen this as well. I believe it happens when you disband a city of pop 2 by building a settler. (though it may not always happen in that situation).

I've noticed this in my last couple of games.

It doesn't only happen with foreign nationals-- if you abandon one of your own cities, the same thing will happen. Also, FTR it happens with workers as well as settlers.

And yeah, I agree that it looks like an uninitialized string.

Do a right-click. You'll see that it is offically a "barbarian" worker.

I believe this is a problem with that settlers shall not be allowed others then your nationality, and if you capture a settler is shall turn into two workers. I think the best solution to this problem would be to not allow any settlers to be built unless you have at least on of your citizens that can be in the settler.

Yup...I've often seen this too...with workers too. Usually when I build one in a newly conquered city.
