  • Coincidence?

This has happened in 2 seperate games....please, you tell me if its a coincidence.....

I'm at peace with any civs I've met. I'm trying to expand my empire and i'm doing okay at it....when all of a sudden barbarians come out of nowhere and whammo! Expansion drops to a halt because sending a settler, even with an escort into hostil unkonwn territory would be a bad idea....and last time I sent one...and I swear this happened....the AI attacked with TEN horsemen. 10! (Even more amazingly, my spearman beat them all! He was assed out from the fighting but he won!)

I feel as if the AI is saying "Oh, No, you're getting too powerful...I'll send a dozen mounted barbarians to keep you from claiming that iron deposit!"

Yes, that happened to me a couple of times. If they disembark near one of your cities you get 'massive barbarian uprising/landing near......(city)'. It is usually enough to have one spearman fortified in a dodgy terrain (provided that he is vet/elite). Once they overran my colony and once they almost took a city, after I had to retreat my settler and worker hastily...
    It was really really cool!

Btw, still haven't encountered American civ in any of my games. Is that a bug or did firaxis decide to pull them out in the last moment?

No, America is still in. Ive read in the stories forum a game where the Native Americans crushed the Americans like a bug, and subjagated their population, putting them on reservations and ....

I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).
