  • Cannot upgrade to a unique unit?

I'm playing France. I cannot upgrade my Pikemen to Musketeers. I have the research and the resource, I can build a Musketeer, but I cannot upgrade to one.

OK, perhaps its not fair to be able to upgrade to a unique unit. But, France cannot build Musket Men so I am stuck with Pikemen until I have access to Riflemen. That doesn't seem right. I should at least be able to upgrade to the non-unique equivalent of the unit.

    What do you guys think?

Here's why: In the editor, a unit can only have one "upgrade to" selection.

If you can't build the musketmen, then you probably don't have the resources, and so I would think that you can't upgrade to a unit that you don't have the resources for.

CRS, he can't build musketmen because muskeeters _replaces_ musket men.

Not being able to upgrade troops to a unique unit is stupid and should be considered a bug.

I changed this in my Pre-patch mod. I enabled the 'regular' units that are equivalent to their UU counterparts- this allows the upgrading. But note that the upgraded units are not UU- just regular.
