  • Rate of Promotions - getting slower as game progress ??

In the early stages (4000-2000 BC) I seem to get upgrade from regular to veteran etc after only 1-2 won battles.
But later, still BC, several wins do nothing when it comes to promotion ?

    Theories:
    - need moore wins than before ? (not tested, since couldn't get a promotion, and had a hard time finding more enemies)
    a) because its later in the timeframe, or
    b) barbarians stop giving exp after some time/battles, or
    c) some advance influences this

    or something completely different ?

Anyone notice this at all ?

Playing Monarch, Huge map, otherwise mostly default.
(having graphics/text bugs, Nvidia etc, but that shouldn't influence this?)

I also noticed it. In the ancient era I almost never fought with the AI but when I did I almost always got promoted. Now i'm in the middle of a huge war in the modern era and I almost never get promotions.

      promotion frequency is probably (not)

My understanding is that promotions are on a random percentage basis, although in the game I am currently playing (STILL my 1st tutorial game from 10/30), it seems more frequent in late game, especially when taking a city!

Just goes to show that it just seems to be one way or another due to the trends we see. In another game later on, it may appear to be totally opposite. Living in Las Vegas, you would be amazed at how many 'myths' there are to the bahavior of dice on a crap table.
