  • Migratory Workers?

I'm seeing some weird behavior that I can't figure. The French sent a large force of unescorted workers across my territory, about 15 (!) . When I threatened them, they were removed, only to immediately try again. After several turns, I got tired of bothering, and didn't want to go to war over it (though capturing them was tempting), so I let it slide to see what they would do. They crossed my turf over to the Aztecs, then I didn't see them for 20-30 turns. Now here they are again, marching through my territory, back the way they came. They couldn't have been working on anything French, since there's no unclaimed land left. So what gives? Anybody know?

That was the Elite French Guard. They were trying to defeat the Aztecs.

I have seen that too mrbill, and it gets annoying when they get in the way.

I should just put them into my concentration camps (i.e., steal them and make them work), but that causes dire diplomatic consequences, of course.

Anyone figure this out? Seems harmless, but it's got me mystified.

The massive number of units fiddling about has me sitting out "Please Wait" sessions too often though. Barbarians alone come in hordes of 30 units and even without uprisings, their coastal camps will churn out uselessly moving boaties along my coasts.

This needs to be addressed! I have a fast PC and all, but the viewing of the moves takes long in itself.

It's kind of obvious what the french were doing. That was the french peacecorps which hooked up the aztec capital to some resourses so the maid of orleans could buy them... :-)
