Hello, I first played Civilization On a Commodore Amiga computer.. (civ1, way back then) And I have purchased every edition since.
My first serious game lasted for 2 days.. about 25 hours of game time. The stats were 8 civs i was americans. large continents, warm and 5 billion years. Warlord diff.
I started on a large land mass with 2 other civs. astezc and iriquias, (i know my spelling is terrible) I had musketeers by 1350, railroads by 1850, spaceflight by 1940's managed to keep the peace with all other civs till end of game which ended in 1972, with a diplimatic win by another civ that had built the
UN. my highest tech was genetics.
I had 47 cities built by game end. all of which were settled by me, none were captured. and around 300 units which included 4 battleships and 2 carrier groups.
also playing on winxp
So far my impression is this game is great. I don't really see any problems with play balance yet. though i'm sure the higher difficulty levels will be balanced more towards the AI. The Grafix's are outstanding. The Tech Tree is well thought out. And several of the strategys of prev civ games have been made unusable. (ex the caravan rush to build wonders.)
I also love the new resourse and luxary management system. helps for keeping large cities content and encourges trade with neighbors, if they have the resourse you need. I also like that the resourses are not scattered to liberaly over the map.
all in all I think this game is worth the bucks and time to play, even if during the latter stages of the game the turns take a while.
I don't really care for the time limit end. but thats have civ games have been.
and those are my thoughts.
