  • Possible Bug?

Ive got a game where I have a road that can be followed to Berlin from my civ. I cannot trade with the germans, though, and I know of no wars going on..

unless the road is blocked by someone germany or I is at war with trade should be allowed, eh?

I have the game saved in case its a bug.. probably something going on nearer Berlin that I can't see due to fog of war?

I had a similar problem trying to trade with the Germans in my game. They were over the ocean and I had the requiste techs for ocean trade and had just traded maps with the Egyptians so that I had a visable water route. But when I went to trade, it said that I couldn't (though I should have been able to). So I waited a couple of turns and then it recognized that I had a visable water route to the Germans.

Have you opened an embassy with Germany? You must do that first before you can start trading.

No, I don't believe you need to open up an embassy before trading. I just recently figured out how to open up embassies (this was very poorly explained in the manual ), but I was able to trade even before that.

I just traded maps with Germany again and it seems some of their roads were destroyed..

of course they are making no effort to repair them, from what I can tell.

And I need to trade with the Americans (coal) and French (Oil).. and NEITHER one has built a harbor!

THats right, I got neither coal nor oil in my territory. geesh.
