  • Illegal is illegal, and not legal!

Civ III is out and so is all the illegal stuff related
to the game. So I think it's good to remind
    three things.

    1. Buying or dowloading an illegal copy of
Civ III is strictly forbidden by law.

    2. Making copies of an authentic copy
of the game is also forbidden, unless
your local laws allow that. In Finland you're
allowed to make "a few copies" (2-3) for
your own personal use and your closest relatives
    (like mum, dad, siblings,...).

    3. Spreading the handbook as a PDF document
is also forbidden, unless you have the permission
of the copyright holder (in this case Infogrames).

    And my final remark:

Do not support piracy, buy a legal version!

As Markos deleted a thread, in which (as I later got to know) the readme was posted makes me think it also is illegal to post the readme.

Which seem quite clear as it is protected by copyright laws as well.

Let me clarify that I do not support piracy either, and will buy the game, though I will also download it, just while waiting for the real game, and will destroy the warez CD I'm going to burn after the real game comes here.

        Ras: Well said.

Solver: That is engaging in a criminal act, which is not cool at all. And I had thought that, after your immature ramblings about monitor resolutions, you had become more intelligent around here. Guess not.

Well they should have released it everywhere at the same time and this wouldn't happen!! :verypissedoff*

So .. I'm downloading it right now. I WILL buy the game when it's here.

Steve - He plans to buy the game. This way he is actually benifiting both the poor dedicated people who spend their time making illegal copies, using CDs made ( helping CD-manufacturers ) as well as buying the actual game and therefore giving Firaxis profits. Just cause not everyone who buys from the pirate has the same high moral code as him, or games manufacturers don't ship to his country fast enough isn't his problem.

Solver - mate. If more people like you there would be more cash flow in the world.

Ras - **** off. No, no SERIOUSLY. Shut the hell up, we're adults and can do whatever we want. Unless you can think of a way to stop it.

So it's K cause you live in an amoral country, whereas you are going to deny us the rights you enjoy cause we don't like in the same country. I bet you'd just copy them anyway if you live over here so I hope you break your back falling off that horse you're on.

Yes yes yes yes. We're all rich guys from Finland who happen to have a law exonerating the acts everyone else is now supposed to feel guilty for.

People could just be patient and wait for their chance to play, instead of acting like spoiled brats.

I only got one thing to say to you: TAKE IT EASY...believe it or not, but game industri should actually appriciate piracy exists. If it wasn't because of piracy I (and I believe many others) wouldn't know the game Civilization (or other games for that matter) and thereby I (we) wouldn't have bought the game in the first place.

Don't take me wrong, I support that everybody should go buy the games (or apps for that matter) if they like them. There's no doubt that I will download the game ASAP, but there's also no doubt that I will buy the game ASAP (which in my case now is when I can afford it)

And btw, I believe it is total useless to shout about it here. The majority inhere (I believe) will defently buy the game if they can.

I know it's forbidden, but what can happen by doing it, FIRAXIS, infogrames, whoever, won't loose any money just because somebody is copying the handbook. Think about, the handbook can only be used if you have the game, of cause you can read the handbook and maybe learn some tactics about the game, but you won't be able to use what is written in the book if you don't have the game. AND included in the game is the handbook anyway...so who looses anything by copying the book??? Nobody!!! And if nobody looses anything by that, then I can't see why we are not allowed to take a look at the handbook many days earlier than we have the chance to buy the game...It just doesn't sound logic

You must really be an idiot if you start threads like this !
What's your mission ? Do you get paid for spreading things like this !

                      What's next ?
A thread that tells us we shall not murder ?
                      YOU shallt not steal

I TELL YOU, CHEATING IS REALLY STUPID

                      or what about:

                      Be nice to your neighbours.

                      where's the puke smiley ?
And why can't I make a copy of the game for personal use ?
I once bought a game, and the CD got lost. I wish I had made a copy.
I will for sure copy the game !
I've copied the MPG edition as well, why ? So I can play it with my brother over LAN. Or do you expect me to buy 2 games ?

I will try to download civ3 for sure !
And I will buy the game. I did it with ToT and CtP2.
                      I bought Civ, civ2 civ2mpg, civ2ToT, SMAC, CtP and CtP2.
Of course I'll buy civ3. And why are people starting threads that it's immoral to download a game 16 days before you buy it?

                      WHY WHY WHY ?????

And why are people preventing the manual to be spread ?
That's so silly. Of course I understand officials from Firaxis and Infogames will try to prevent it to be spread this way. And I can understand that Apolyton will try to prevent it to keep their relation with Firaxis clean. But right now even just simple people from Finland are telling the rest of the world what to do ?

                      I'll tell you, I will buy Civ3 for $50
Later there will be Civ3 MPG and I'll spend another $50 on it.
And when Civ3 ToT will be released I'll have to spend another $50.

what are you cyring for ?
That I download the game in advance and try to read the manual while waiting ?

                      idiot.
Go and tell your 2 year old brother that he shouldn't stay up late when pappa and mamma aren't home.

                        Ditto Solver!

I intend to download this game. I have seen the actions of Infogrames of withholding the game to certain areas of the world (different release dates, barring from buying from amazon US), so I will be damned if I will respect Infogrames when they are going to pull a stunt like this. I don't think Infogrames deserve a penny of my money for this action, although I am willing to give Firaxis the money. I will buy the game when available if just to support Firaxis and get the manual. Personally I would rather send Firaxis a cheque for the amount and keep the pirated version, simple as that!
