  • The Most Hair-raising Factoid So Far

    Jason Gleason, PLAYTESTER, FIRAXIS:

"Keep the other civilizations happy the entire time by giving them small gifts of a gold or two per turn. They will be gracious as their cities topple and fall into your empire and they'll never be any the wiser."

Anybody scared as yet about the quality of the AI?

no ICS but there is Infinite Bribing Sleaze. IBS at least it won't work in multiplayer.

Cone on Americans, try it and tell us if it works.

If this works, Yin will be considered an optimist.

Well what did anyone expect? An intelligent AI? Sheesh

As people have said over and over...only way anyones ever going to get challenged is by playing another person.......

But you don't have to "cheat" against AI. I mean if you know there's that kind of flaw then why use it? To ruin your fun?

And of course everyone plays in Ironman-mode; no saves/loads except when you begin/end your playing.

But that´s a very bad excuse for AI.

Furthermore, I thought playtesters are there to eliminate exploits, not advertise them?

I don't see the problem with that. You give a civilization money, sure... it'll think you like him. It may not catch on, but would you expect it to? In order to have that, you'd have to make them learn right? And if it didn't respond, you'd think the AI is broken.
Of the Holy Roman Empire, this was once said:
"It is neither holy or roman, nor is it an empire."

But what about Soren´s famous 3-level-Ai? Shouldn´t the highest-level generalissimo realize he is been taken for a ride? Would you love me, if I give you one gold per turn and steal your cities?

                      I would hope so

Obviously this won't happen on Deity.

It´s a strategy tip from the Firaxis Playtester.

Yea but Dan Magaha said a couple of months back he had to give MASSIVE amounts of tribute to get other civs to leave him alone during his peaceful game. Hopefully the playtester far overstated the situation.
