  • Linux port?

Would be nice to have a linux port of CIV3, but like Quake 2: the source code could be downloaded free, but the graphics, and sounds were required from the windows version.

    Would be VERY nice. Yep

They would do that, if there wasn't one problem... The moment they heard the news, half of the Freeciv team would die from heart attack...

If you are serious about it then write, snail-mail, the developers, the publishers and Loki.

Thats true but chapter 11 is just creditor protection. Its wounded but its not a death cry.

It won't hurt to mail them.

I have asked.. repeatedly.. from Firaxis, and Infogrames, and more if there is a port to Linux in the works. No response at all. It's been a couple of months since I sent the request. I have offered to be involved with a port, should the need arise (since I want to learn..) I have offered this for free. Still no response. Only animosity. Loki is in a LOT of financial trouble, and they still owe people a ton of money, and from what I gather have burned the bridge to Firaxis pretty harshly. In essence, what I am saying is that Loki probably will not be able to port games from companies they've already worked with. Since they have worked with Firaxis, and they owe money to them, then I doubt Firaxis is going to give Loki, or Linux, the time of day.

Civ3 for Linux just isn't going to happen.. not unless Firaxis and Infogrames gets the porting license fees in advance.
