  • Got your work/school schedule cleared out for the release of civ?

As some of you know, i'm in the army, currently in korean language training (to be a linguist) . .

well our next unit test is on the 30th of Oct. PERFECT! This means i don't have to be studying on the day civ comes out or anything, as i'll be just starting a brand new unit, and ALSO i can afford to be "sick" or 1, maybe even 2 days that early in the unit, as it will be easy to catch up with a at least 2 weeks until the next unit test.

So this isn't REALLY off topic, as it deals with the release of civ3. . what do your civ3 preperations involve?

I have to wait till 17th November to get my hands on it here in Australia, and thats a Saturday - i'll have 48 hours to play it before school starts again, so thats good.

The bad new is that my preorder from Chips & Bits will more than likely take a month or so to get to me.
The good news is that by that time, ill have finished my uni exams, and have a full 3 Months of holidays all for Civ 3!!
I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).

Well once the release date of the game is confirmed, I will take a few days off to have a play with it!

I just used up my vacation time, but I will find time to play. If my boss complains, I'll tell him that I'm praticing "time-management."

No, nothing changes for me. In fact looking at my schedule I have a lab report due that day and two papers later in the week. Thank goodness that if I preorder the game it will arrive a couple days late and if I go get it by car, I will not have time till the weekend.

Based on a ship date of 10/30, and the game in the store store 10/31, I have currently requested and got work approval to have the afternoon off, and Thursday and Friday as vacation days.

If its in the stores 10/30, I will pickup my copy. Then I will go into work the morning of 10/31, bring the game with me, and take it around to various work cubicles going "Neener neener neener!" to co-workers.

PS: If there are no posts from me after 10/31, it may not be because I am playing the game. It may be because I am in the hospital after these same co-workers beat the dung out of me for taunting them.

                        Why pre-order???

Anytime I pre-order a game I notice that I get it about 5 days *after* it's out on the shelves of the local stores! Sometimes even cheaper in the stores than the pre-order price!

You would think that if you pre-order, they should make every effort for you to *receive* the game *on* the release date to reward you.

Ah well... If my pre-order isn't shipped on the day it comes out, I'm cancelling my order from amazon and going to the store on my lunch break

When I have my copy, I will take my vacation time, but only two or three days, because computer gaming is good, but travelling is better
