  • Can the AI use custom units/govts?

The subject heading is pretty self-explanatory...

If I create new governments and UUs and units, will the computer's AI recognize the various benefits they have and then use them, or is the AI preprogrammed to only "know" the default units and governments?

When the AI switches governments, is there a rigid formula (i.e. when I get X cities I switch to Democracy if I am American) or is it actually calculating costs/benefits of the old govt vs. the new?

I dont know if AI wil use custom units and such, but i wam quite certain that the AI weighs options instead of a formula.

Even in Civ II the AI would use custom units, so I'm sure it will be even better now!

In Civ II, when you edited the rules.txt, you assigned a number to show the AI the value of the unit or government (or improvement or wonder). The higher the number, the more likely the AI would value the new unit, gov't, etc.

Now this will all be done through the editor, which looks very easy to use and will probably include the setting of such values by the player.
