More time to play, if every second would be counted.
The problem that I encounter with realtime games is that I don't have the time to play the game. It's going to be hard enough just to find the time to play CIV III and still keep my job. At least with a turn based game, I can put the game on "pause" for a week, come back and know that I haven't missed any of the action. This is defiantly one of the biggests gripes I have against mp that I have. With my job, it could take me several weeks just to make a single move, and during that time, other players would be griping at me for delaying the game. With a realtime game, especially a realtime multiplayer game, my civilzation would not survive past the first work related deadline, and around here, that's quite frequent. Now I don't mind hotseat if only I could find others in my neighborhood who are willing to play CIV. My friends would rather get drunk than anything else, and that's a tale for another thread.

Somehow, I think I got off the topic here. Oh well.

That happened to me in CTP everytime the computer started to send out those d@mn lawyers. I hated those lawyers.

I agree with you, even if I don't have such kind of job.

I'll have to point out that realtime MP was supposed
to be a joke. My personal opinion is that Civ should
remain as turnbased, because I think it's one
of the reasons to its success.

He's gotta be kidding. Civ games are civ games only because of turns. What would be idea in game that the one who moves his units fastest wins?

          Well not civ idea.

I found these news surfing while downloading demo of nhl 2002, that...has nothing to do with apolyton so I shall go on.

If anyone can translate this into English, please do so.

But shortly: winter will be greater enemy than Taleban at Afganistan.

              My 3-4 minute translation:

The ground troops of United States and Britain will
              have to face a greater enemy than the Talibans;
the mercyless winter of the country.

After few weeks time, a half year long winter will
begin in Afghanistan, when temperatures drop to
freezing low, the snow forms many meter high heaps and
              a cold breeze blows.

In history battles in Afghanistan have ceased for
November-April, and if the western troops try to fight
through out the winter, there will be large problems.

              Hopefully it's good enough.

It's a bit of a contrast for me. On one side there is Firaxis trying to make the game Simple (note the capital S, thank you), and on the other hand the incessant reequests of players for a little more realism or detail here or there.

While I certainly applaud Firaxis for not over-crowding the game with all sorts of details, I do think they've gone to far by removing scripting, Multiplayer and Civ customizability.

Also, from looking at the Gamespot video, I noticed that altough the interface looks pretty 'simple' and functional, it in fact requires you to move the mouse from one box to the next, and pointing it a positively minuscule buttons to click away one message after another... NOT GOOD.

Oh I'm sure there'll be keyboard shortcuts for everything... won't there?
