  • Oh hell yeah!!!!!!!

I've been off work for over a month now and the disability checks have been slim. Realistically, I wasn't sure if I'd be able to get Civ3 on opening day. But, as luck would have it, one of my Bo's called and said I have a $97 bonus check waiting for me. Now I can experience the life altering experience that will be Civ3 as soon as the rest of you. Just thought I'd share that...

    Well good for you.
However, it is difficult to believe that 2 times 2 does not equal 4; does that make it true? On the other hand, is it really so difficult simply to accept everything that one has been brought up on and that has gradually struck deep roots – what is considered truth in the circle of moreover, really comforts and elevates man? Is that more difficult than to strike new paths, fighting the habitual, experiencing the insecurity of independence and the frequent wavering of one’s feelings and even one’s conscience, proceeding often without any consolation, but ever with the eternal goal of the true, the beautiful, and the good? - F.N.

So how long are you gonna milk your injury just so you can play Civ III?

        Actually, what did happen?

I'm getting it in 18 ( ) days because that's my birthday. I think I'm coming down with something, *cough cough*

I was stressed out about **** at home, sat down at the 'puter to calm down, and Goddamnit the F-ing thing stopped responding. So in my moment of pissedoffedness, I punched the wall, and hitting a stud, my fingers grazed right off and instantly I felt my hand go limp. Upon going in the next day, I learned I completely craked in half my 5th metacarple [SP?], also known as a boxer's fracture. Needless to say, when my hand is back to full use, I think I'll invest in a punching bag.

YES! I think I'm about to come down with a case of the same disease, and have to self my dissertation for a week also. It's great to work in academia. BTW, what's your Ph.D. work in, HArrison?

Me? I am doing research into diabetes, especially neuropathy (if you are not of a biological background, nervous complications as a result of diabetes). I am mainly concerned with the vasculature in such complications (vasa nervorum) although I also do some work in pulmonary vasculature (related to inhaled insulin therapies) and also working on neuronal cell culture as well to investigate the nervous part of it as opposed to vasculature.

So why does this thread stay open whilst the "Cheers!" thread gets closed???

Not that this is an insignificant thread, but still, neither was the "Cheers!" thread!!!

                              Hello colleague!

I'm a biologist too and working on my Master Thesis. And i am very worried about the Civ3 release because i know from past Civ sessions how hard the 'one more turn' syndrome can be. And the release will be at the same time when i switch from the lab bench to the computer to actually write the thesis. I have a bad feeling......

                              Greetings,
