Since it probably took less than half the effort to produce I'd call that ripping off SimGolf buyers

Well considering that Simgolf's competition (Golf Tycoon) is selling for $20 right now at Staples. I think it should be $30.

I wouldnt even pay 10 bucks for simgolf

The demand of the game fixes the price.....anticipated sales of simgolf are certainly lower than the release of the quite possibly, best game ever made.

You would have to pay to me to play SimGolf.

            I hate golf.

I can see a trend developing here:

You would have to pay me the US Federal Reserve for me to play SimGolf

Anyway, back to the issue in hand, I see the capitalists have been at work, milking their little cashcow Although the right-wingers would probably accuse me of being too socialist and benevolent and that I should be running over more proletariat in the Mercedez-Benz

I love golf and I still wouldn't buy it for that much. Golf games, I've found, are rarely worth it. The only thing going for this game is Sid, as far as I'm concerned.

So that means that SimGolf will be $39.95? Just wait until January, you will see it everywhere for $19.99. Civ3 will still be $44.99 - $49.99, depending on the store.

Civ III is being published by Infogrames.

Sim Golf is being published by EA.

Now look at Firaxis' track record of making a TBS game for each company and you will find some even more revealing trends.

Civ III (Infogrames) - no demo, no MP, no public beta, no game delay

SMAC (EA) - demo, MP, game delay to make sure it is right,

And this fall, Sim Golf was delayed to the spring so we know that Firaxis can still delay games. They aren't the problem. The problem is the publisher. Please Firaxis, I beg you after Civ III, never do anything for Infogrames again!

I'm sure the demand for strategy games FAR exceeds the demand for golf games. When demand is up, so are prices, it's simple supply and demand.

Actually it is the other way around. The SIM franchise is considerably more valuable than the Civ franchise. Simulation type games far outsell strategy games. This is basically Infogrames saying those civfanatics will pay anything for Civ3. So bend over civfans.

Civ3 is poberly worth significantly more than sim-golf to most people. Especially more than a mere ten dollars!!! I know it is to me. What a bargin!!!

I would have to agree with games like SimCity and The Sims, but SimGolf??? You have to be kidding, unless they did some amazing things with this game I can't see a whole lot of demand for it.
