What artist did you like to make the Civ III sountrack?
Autechre would most likely do a decent job. Mike Oldfield wouldn't make a fool of himself either, although I suspect his music could draw too much attention off the game.

Most games I play (which is a lot) come with music. But after the third time the tracks have cycled through, I turn the music off.

I don't play with music on in my games- usually.

Ill probably be playing with the in-game music. But once my mighty empire prepares itself for war, ill load up Rammstein in winamp, and the enemy will never know what hit them!!
I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).

I don't think this will be the case with CivIII, but in CivII I couldn't stand the music after playing the second or third time, and put on my G'ed out thug music in the background (Yes I know, everybody hates this music) From what I've seen in the CivIII preview video though, the audio aspect looks promising.

What's so bad about rock? It's inspiring, that's what it is. New Age or Pop music - that's tasteless. But hey, I don't blame you for listening to your Backstreet Boyz while playing Civ3. Everyman to his taste

It's detoriating the game's aestethic experience and likewise, violating the unwritten principles of it's graphical concept.

Once I research "Radioactive Monsters", I'm playing "Godzilla" by Blue Oyster Cult.

yes, I agree, the music that came with the game. or classical. the game clashes with rock, even as much as I do love rock n' roll.

I wouldn't listen to the music from Civ II to save my life. *puke*

It wasn't only repeated ad naseum, it just wasn't all that good.

Being a musician, I have had some fun planning out soundtracks:

Ancient era - Right of Spring by Stravinksy, Resphighi's Pines of Rome

Medieval times - Gregorian chant, or I have some Eastern Orthodox chant if Im playing the russians.

Renaissance - Josquin de Prez, cool CDs I have the French troubadors, or early Italian music. Then get into early opera like Monteverdi.

Then it's pretty much into the Baroque (Bach, Handel, Vivaldi), Classical (Mozart, Beethoven) and Romantic (BRAHMS! Mahler), then into 20th century...and look, we're back to the Rite of Spring!

Oh, and Holst's The Planets. That's good fightin' music.

By that point, the game's usually over anyway!

I listen to music that makes me more happy (this means ingame music is out of the question, that's just boring). What makes me happy is rap/pop, r&b and such
This space is empty... or is it?

While it may be too soon to judge, what I've heard of the Civ3 ingame music is impressive. I may put the classical CDs aside...
