    Music in videogames.

Everybody knows how important is music in videogames, the environmental sounds are an important thing to involve the player in the game's atmosphera.

Do you think sound is important in videogames?
    and in Civ?

Some famous artists has composed the music of some videogames.

I think music and videogames are so related with each other that associate a song with a game is quite easy.

What kind of music makes you play Civ with more ansiety?

What artist did you like to make the Civ III sountrack?

I think Mike Oldfield would have made a good work.

And you? What do you think?

For civ 3 I would like music that inspires me to build an empire, there were a few nice tunes in civ 2 but they were turned off after the first 3-4 times, so a really long and flowing background theme that fits in with the game would be nice. And of course the option to turn it all of and listen to Winamp or something.
As for unit sounds, just dont make them annoying so you get angry when you get beaten up by them
It's candy. Surely there are more important things the NAACP could be boycotting. If the candy were shaped like a burning cross or a black man made of regular chocolate being dragged behind a truck made of white chocolate I could understand the outrage and would share it. - Drosedars

I really liked the Civ III Megamix, and I have no doubt that the music will be good, and there will be LOTS of it (as explained in the video).

Well I would certainly like to be able to hear all those old tunes from each of the civs from civ1 revamped to modern computer quality. It will be a gigantic nostalgia trip for me. But as has been said, you can always play a different CD on your CD player (I wonder if Firaxis will allow you to insert a different CD into the computer once the game has started, so you can have your own music but also still have the game sounds on). And they have commented that you can run WinAmp or equivalent software in the background, and that the game is Alt-Tab friendly...

I always like to have the game's music because it adds to the mood. If I get tired of the music, I'll just start up winamp or my stereo and play what my heart desires.

I don't usually play rock with civ, but certain songs can fit the game quite well.

We didn't create the poll, that's Kramsib's fault. We are posting our opinions. As I say whenever I am accused of spamming, go look up Eli..... He is the new Emperor of Spam here at Apolyton.

Well, being a former musician, I don't find this a crappy idea at all. I'm always interested in finding out the musical interests of others.

Well we have an Apolyton Audiogalaxy group in the OT and one of our themes was to recommend a song to play civ to, and was appropriate. My choice was 'I Want To Conquer The World' by Bad Religion. Check out the thread if you can find it, you will get the idea of things...

I dare not go to the OT forum. Someone would have to tie me up to prevent me from getting into flame wars. I come to forums to discuss trivial things such as computer games, not political issues or some whimsical topic some person came up with.

I can only trust discussing such things with close friends and not the masses that is the anonymous internet, the majority of whom are either ignorant (usually from youth), or just stupid.
