To me Johnson just gives the standard answer to MP questions.
"We're working but..............."
It's known that much companies alter quotes OR questions after the interview took place. To us, MP is important and we know much about civ3. Remember that people from Gamespin have less knowledge about civ3 than we have. And they feel MP is less important and all that.
If I read the answer, than I can't say anything else but that Johnson answers to the question: Any (info on) multiplayer
and than after the usual question the usual answer comes.
The 'No' in that case refors to: I won't comment on it.
I might be an optimist, but that's the way I see it.

GameSpin: Any multiplayer?
Johnson: No. We're working on multiplayer but we're not ready to make any announcements about how it will be implemented.
